Racine Heritage Museum announces SPARK!, a program for people with memory loss and their caregivers.

The program uses props and pictures to encourage conversation, enjoying the here and now, and offering an engaging hour for its attendees.  The program is designed for people with memory loss and their caregivers to attend together.

Program Objective

·      stimulate conversation

·      draw from past experiences

·      create off-site programs available to reach participants who cannot travel

RHM’s idea…

Similar programs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Folk Museum and the Museum of Modern Art have been very successful, offering an entertaining and interactive afternoon to all involved.  After receiving a grant from the Helen Bader Foundation, RHM staff traveled to New York to observe the programs and take part in a three-part seminar.  While other SPARK! museum programs are in-house, RHM felt there was a need for outreach programming into the community.
